Pasalimani — officially Zea Marina — is the circular harbor on Piraeus's eastern flank where the city shifts from freight terminals to sailboats. The basin is ringed by neoclassical apartment blocks, cafés, and fish tavernas that fill after sunset. Locals come for the promenade, visitors for the Archaeological Museum of Piraeus (Roman statues pulled from the harbor floor) and the Hellenic Maritime Museum. The waterfront is lined with masts rather than ferries, and the rhythm is residential rather than transit.
The neighborhood sits between the main port of Piraeus and the smaller Mikrolimano cove. It is a ten-minute walk from Piraeus metro station, connected to central Athens in twenty minutes. Most who stay here are either early for an island ferry or prefer proximity to the port without the noise of the departure gates. The area works as a base for day trips to the Saronic islands or as a stopover before longer routes to the Cyclades or Dodecanese.
The dining scene is steady rather than fashionable — grilled fish, octopus, horiatiki — with tables facing the water and prices that reflect the location. The promenade loops the entire harbor in under fifteen minutes. Pasalimani is not a destination in itself, but it is a functional and pleasant place to spend a night or an afternoon when the timing of a ferry demands it.
